Why Paris

Paris rewards school groups because its landmarks are also working institutions — the Louvre, the Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie and the Institut de France sit within a compact, walkable city that students can read like a map. For pupils travelling from Dubai, it offers sustained immersion in spoken French alongside some of the most tangible mathematics in Europe, from the geometry of Haussmann's boulevards to the Eiffel Tower's iron lattice.

Groups typically work across the Musée du Louvre and the Musée d'Orsay, the Panthéon with its Foucault pendulum, and the Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie at La Villette, whose Palais de la Découverte partner site covers mathematics directly. The Latin Quarter puts the Sorbonne, the Jardin des Plantes and dozens of small bookshops within a short walk of one another, so language tasks can be set on the street rather than in a classroom. Montmartre, the Marais and the Canal Saint-Martin each give students a distinct register of Parisian French and a different urban form to analyse.

Languages

Students order in cafés on the Rue Mouffetard, work through a guided visit at the Musée Carnavalet and use the Sorbonne quarter's bookshops for structured listening and reading tasks in French.

Mathematics

The Palais de la Découverte and the Cité des Sciences at La Villette handle probability and geometry directly, while the Eiffel Tower's trusswork, the glass pyramid at the Louvre and the proportions of La Défense's Grande Arche give real structures to measure and model.

When to travel

Paris has a temperate maritime climate with rain possible in any month and few extremes, so groups arriving from Dubai should expect far cooler conditions than home for most of the year. Summer afternoons can reach the low thirties during heatwaves, while winter days are short, grey and often near freezing at night.

Spring

March to May

Mild and changeable, gardens in flower; among the best windows for a school visit.

Summer

June to August

Warm and long-lit but peak crowds at the Louvre and Eiffel Tower; book everything ahead.

Autumn

September to November

Cool, damp and much quieter at major sites; strong value for a study-focused trip.

Winter

December to February

Cold, grey and dark by late afternoon; fine for indoor museum programmes.
