Overview

About this trip

The Minor focuses on World Religions within the context of Rome and the Mediter-ranean. Romo is the rich religious history in a cultural and religious crossroads for today's Roman Catholic Church. Professors utilize Rome as an extension of the classroom, teaching at sites like the Vatican Museums, St. Peter’s Basilica, and the Catacombs of San Callisto. On-site activities and team assignments help you learn through experience, while an Italian language course contribute to your ability to communicate. Fall semester students may choose to enroll in an optional elective course through our partner, LUISS University (LUISS).

Cultural awareness

Customs & norms in Italy

A little cultural fluency goes a long way — these are the habits your hosts will notice and appreciate.

  • Cover shoulders and knees to enter churches — this is enforced at major basilicas.
  • Cappuccino is a morning drink; after lunch, Italians switch to espresso.
  • Greet shopkeepers when entering and leaving — service is a conversation, not a transaction.
