Welcome to Nairobi, Conservation & Cultural Orientation

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be welcomed by the local team and transferred by private coach to your accommodation. After settling in, your programme coordinator will lead an informative orientation covering the itinerary, local customs, cultural awareness, health and safety, transportation arrangements and important guidelines for the days ahead.

You will then begin exploring Nairobi with visits to two of the city’s most inspiring conservation projects. At the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, you will learn how orphaned elephants are rescued, rehabilitated and prepared for their eventual return to the wild. Your next stop is the Giraffe Centre, where you will discover efforts to protect the endangered Rothschild’s giraffe and may have an opportunity to see these magnificent animals at close range. The day concludes with dinner and an overnight stay at your accommodation.

Community Engagement, Personal Growth & Character Building

Over the next four days, you will volunteer at a childcare centre on the outskirts of Nairobi, working alongside local staff and becoming actively involved in the centre’s daily programme. Each day will provide new opportunities to participate, contribute and build positive connections while gaining a better understanding of the centre’s role within its community.

Your time may include supporting informal educational activities such as reading, language practice, basic numeracy, storytelling and creative learning exercises. You may also help organise arts and crafts, music, movement, sports, team games and supervised play, encouraging the children to participate and enjoy learning in a relaxed and supportive environment. Working in small groups, you may prepare simple activities, create learning materials and help lead age-appropriate sessions under the guidance of the centre’s staff.

You may also assist with practical daily tasks, such as sorting educational resources, organising books and toys, preparing activity areas, refreshing displays or helping improve shared learning and recreational spaces. The precise activities will depend on the centre’s priorities at the time of your visit, ensuring that your contribution remains appropriate, useful and directed by those who understand its needs best.

This experience is also designed to support personal growth and character development. Stepping into a different environment will encourage you to move beyond your comfort zone, take responsibility and approach new situations with patience, empathy and an open mind. Working as part of a team will strengthen leadership, communication, creativity and problem-solving skills, while the daily interaction with children and staff will help develop greater cultural understanding, resilience and confidence.

These four active and rewarding days offer an opportunity to make a positive contribution while reflecting on your own values, abilities and responsibilities as a global citizen. At the end of each day, you will return to your accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay, taking with you new experiences and lessons that can continue to shape your outlook long after the journey has ended.

Into the African Wilderness of The Great Rift Valley & Masai Mara

After an early breakfast, you will leave the busy streets of Nairobi behind and begin an exciting journey into the Kenyan countryside towards the world-famous Masai Mara National Reserve. As the city gradually gives way to open farmland, traditional communities and dramatic landscapes, your guide will introduce you to the geography, wildlife and cultural importance of this extraordinary region.

Along the way, you will stop at a viewpoint overlooking the magnificent Great Rift Valley, one of the most remarkable geographical features on Earth. Stretching for thousands of kilometres across the African continent, the valley provides a spectacular panorama of escarpments, distant hills and wide-open plains. There will be time to take photographs, enjoy the views and learn how powerful geological forces helped shape the landscape.

You will then continue towards the Masai Mara, watching the scenery become increasingly wild as you approach the reserve. A picnic lunch will be provided during the journey before you arrive at your safari camp, located within one of Africa’s richest wildlife regions. After checking in and becoming familiar with the camp, take a moment to enjoy the incredible surroundings and absorb the feeling of being in the heart of the African wilderness.

The Ultimate Masai Mara Safari, go in search of Africa’s Wildlife

Rise early to the sounds of the African wilderness and enjoy breakfast at camp before setting out on an exhilarating full-day safari across the vast plains of the Masai Mara. Travelling in a specially designed safari vehicle with an experienced guide, you will explore grasslands, riverbanks and woodland habitats in search of the reserve’s extraordinary wildlife.

Every game drive is different, and the excitement comes from never knowing what may appear next. You may see elephants travelling in family groups, giraffes feeding among the acacia trees, buffalo crossing the plains or large herds of zebra, wildebeest and antelope moving through the grasslands. Your guide will also search for the Masai Mara’s famous predators, including lions, cheetahs and, with some luck, the elusive leopard. You may witness fascinating natural behaviour, from animals protecting their young to predators resting, hunting or surveying the plains.

Throughout the day, your guide will help you identify different species, tracks and calls while explaining how animals survive within this remarkable ecosystem. You will learn about food chains, predator-and-prey relationships, migration patterns, conservation challenges and the importance of protecting wildlife habitats. Birdlife is equally impressive, with eagles, vultures, storks and many colourful smaller species found throughout the reserve.

A picnic lunch will be enjoyed in a suitable location within the reserve, surrounded by the remarkable sights and sounds of the African landscape. After lunch, continue exploring different areas of the Masai Mara, stopping whenever wildlife is spotted and allowing plenty of time for observation and photography.

Depending on availability, you may choose to begin the day with an optional hot-air balloon safari, rising above the plains as the sun appears over the horizon. From the air, the Masai Mara’s rivers, grasslands and wildlife trails can be seen from an unforgettable perspective. Alternatively, an appropriately managed visit to a Maasai community may offer an introduction to local traditions, daily life and the relationship between the community, livestock and the surrounding environment. Optional activities carry an additional cost and may be subject to availability and age restrictions.

As the afternoon light softens, enjoy your final game drive and one last opportunity to search for members of Africa’s legendary Big Five. Return to camp with a camera full of photographs and memories of an extraordinary day in the wild. Dinner will be served at the campsite, followed by a final evening beneath the stars, surrounded by the distant sounds of the Masai Mara.

One Final Safari & Farewell to Kenya

Rise early for one final adventure in the Masai Mara as you head out on a sunrise game drive. The cooler morning hours are often an excellent time to observe wildlife, with animals becoming active across the plains as the first light spreads over the reserve. Keep watch for elephants, giraffes, zebra, antelope and buffalo, while your guide searches for predators returning from the night’s activities. The peaceful atmosphere, golden light and sweeping views provide a spectacular final opportunity for wildlife photography.

Return to camp for a well-earned breakfast before checking out and saying goodbye to the Masai Mara. You will then begin the scenic journey back to Nairobi, passing through the Great Rift Valley and Kenya’s changing countryside. A packed lunch will be provided for the journey, with comfort stops made along the way.

On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, check in for your return flight to Dubai. As your Kenyan adventure comes to an end, you will leave with far more than photographs—bringing home new friendships, greater confidence and a deeper appreciation of community, culture and wildlife conservation. The lessons gained through volunteering, teamwork and stepping beyond your comfort zone will make this an experience to remember long after you return home.
