About this trip

Experience the warmth, colour and incredible variety of Sri Lanka on a rewarding journey combining community engagement, environmental conservation, cultural discovery and outdoor adventure. Based near the historic coastal city of Galle, students will meet welcoming local people, work alongside teachers and community coordinators, engage with young children at a local kindergarten and learn about the traditions, beliefs and everyday life that make the country so special.

The programme offers an exciting range of experiences and choices, allowing students to discover different sides of Sri Lanka. They can embrace the island’s coastal lifestyle with a surfing lesson or choose the calm and mindfulness of yoga. They can explore Sri Lanka’s world-famous tea heritage or learn about marine conservation at a sea turtle hatchery, before choosing between an exciting wildlife safari in Yala National Park and an educational rainforest hike through Sinharaja Forest Reserve.

Alongside these adventures, students will explore historic Galle Fort, visit a Buddhist temple, participate in beach cleaning and tree planting, and support children through creative and educational activities. With its wonderful people, diverse landscapes and excellent variety of cultural, community and adventure experiences, this journey offers something for everyone while encouraging teamwork, confidence, independence and a greater understanding of the wider world.

    A senior monk leads meditation inside a working Buddhist temple, followed by a second afternoon of hands-on volunteering with young children.

  4. Cancellation 60–31 days before departure: 75% of the total cost is charged.
  5. Cancellation 30–1 day before departure: no refund is given.
  6. Visa refusal or no appointment available: 25% non-refundable from the date of confirmation; 90–61 days 50%, 60–31 days 75%, 30–1 day 100% non-refundable.

Customs & norms in Sri Lanka
